Annie Gillespie

Annie Sue Carpenter Gillespie, 77 of Carpenter Rd. passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at her home. She was born on November 1, 1939 in Gaston County to the late George Howard and Zelia Mae Foster Carpenter. Annie found great pleasure in spending time with her family and grandchildren and was an avid reader. She was of devout and dedicated servant to our Lord Jesus Christ.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, George Howard Gillespie and a sister, Shirley Mae Grigg.

Survivors include her children, Delores Ann Barrett of Gastonia, Scott Douglas Gillespie of Hickory, and John Philip Gillespie of Bessemer City; seven grandchildren, Peyton Gillespie, Piper Gillespie, Parker Gillespie, Danielle Gillespie, Beth Gillespie, Karen Barrett, and Christopher Barrett and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 7:30 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Chris Wilson officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 6:00 -7:15 PM and other times at the home.
