Belma Sayre

Belma Lee Mills Sayre, 67, of Leonhardt Rd., died January 28, 2018 at Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte. She was born December 16, 1950 in Seymour, Indiana, a daughter of the late Fred and Bernice Burkhammer Mills. Belma was a member of Anthony Grove Baptist Church and active in her Sunday school class. She enjoyed traveling especially to the mountains, growing flowers, her grandchildren and her church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Highland; and ten brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Edward Lee Sayre; son, Dwaine Mills of Cherryville; grandsons, Jonathan Ray McCorkhill, Curtis Jacob McCorkhill, and Jesse Lee Mills; a brother, James Mills of Winchester, VA; sisters, Joyce Potter of Lincolnton, Judy Denny of Titusville, FL and Anna Williams of Bella Vista, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Anthony Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Dennis Bean officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at Carpenter Porter Funeral and Cremation Services Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and at other times at the home.
