Dorothy Beam Grigg, 92, transitioned from her earthly home to her eternal heavenly home April 15, 2021. Born in Cleveland County, October 9, 1928, she was the middle daughter of the late Yates Dewey Beam and Minnie Willis Beam. She graduated from Burns High School with plans to embark on a nursing career until she met the love of her life, Bobby Carpenter Grigg. After marrying, she dedicated her life to being a homemaker and mother to her children.
Among her many wonderful qualities, she was humble, generous, loving, hardworking, sacrificing, humorous, and an animal lover. Dorothy, affectionately referred to as Dot by many, was a role model to her family and lived the example of Ephesians 4:32. She was a lifelong member of Fallston Baptist Church where her paternal grandmother, Phoebe Carpenter Beam, was a charter member.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bob Grigg; infant son, Jim Grigg; sister, Evelyn Beam Blanton; and bonus grandson, Jonathan Gibson.
Survivors include her children, Wanda Grigg Wyont (Garry) of Cherryville, Lynne Grigg Beaver (Dennis), Jan Grigg Owenby (Gary), Don Grigg (Kim), and Tim Grigg (Janice), all of Dallas; sister, Marilyn Beam Peeler of Lawndale; sister-in law, Ann Grigg Bergholt; grandchildren, Kimberly Wyont, Casey Owenby, Jaclyn Beaver, and Trey Stone; and great-grandsons, Alex Owenby and Cyrus Stone.
A funeral celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held at Fallston Baptist Church in Fallston at 1:00PM on Monday, April 19, 2021 and will be officiated by Reverend David Blanton. Due to COVID-19, face masks and social distancing are requested by the family of all attendees. A private graveside service will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Lawndale.
