Evon Mckinney

Mary Evon Slaughter McKinney, age 69 of Lester St. passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the home of Bob Homesley. She was born July 19, 1947 in Lincoln County to the late Cramer Slaughter and Mary Brooks Slaughter Carpenter. Evon was formerly employed with Knit Tronics and Sunbelt and had attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She loved fishing and playing Bingo. Her grandkids were her life and she enjoyed every moment spent with them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Jakie Slaughter and Jane Carpenter.

Survivors include her special friend, Bob Homesley; children, Harold Lovelace and wife, Shelly and Crystal Hudson and husband, Wesley; grandchildren, Cameron Lovelace, Autumn Kondzielski, and Taylor Hudson; siblings, Buddy Slaughter and wife, Terry, Carolyn Lail and husband, Jr., Barbara Smith, and Kathy Smith; brother-in-law, Buck Carpenter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Ricky Sigmon officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:30 to 11:45 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. And at other times at the home of Jr. and Carolyn Lail, 1440 W. Academy St.
