Fred Stroupe

March 25, 1936 — September 13, 2017

Fred Louie Stroupe, age 81 of St. Mark's Church Rd. died Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born March 25, 1936 in Gaston County to the late Fred Franklin and Eva Pearl Bess Stroupe. He was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church. Fred attended Tryon School and was a longtime farmer. He enjoyed red tractors, bluegrass music, and dining out with friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Towery Stroupe; and sister, Jerry Ross.

Survivors include his beloved daughter, Julie Stroupe; nieces, Suzanne Wall and Angela Morton; nephews, David, Bobby, and Billy Towery; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Fain Farmer and Rev. Billy Towery officiating. Burial will follow at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services.

The family would like to express thanks to Wade Hunsucker for the dedicated caregiving he extended to Fred.
