James Childers

James "Rip" Edward Childers, age 54, of HWY 274 N Cherryville passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Carolina Health Care Systems Blue Ridge. He was born in Cherokee County, SC on May 19, 1963 a son of the late George Washington and Helen Rose Childers. Rip was employed at the Lakewood Care Center as Med Tech supervisor. He attended Bess Chapel United Methodist Church. He found great pleasure in camping, Carp fishing, and was an excellent pool player. He was attracted to the outdoors and taking care of his donkey, "Jack" and his chickens.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Vina Medley.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Becky Beam Childers; siblings, Eddie Childers (Pam) of Belwood, Zach Childers of Gaffney, SC, Annette Parris (Charles) of Spartanburg, and Glendy Bolin (Wayne) of Gaffney; Uncle, Dennis Rose of Gaffney and his toy poodle, Diesel and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church at 3:00 PM with Rev. Bill Taylor and Rev. Randi Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 1:30-2:45 PM and at other times at the home.
