Jimmie Blanton

Jimmie Louise Wray Blanton, 70 of Eighth Ave., formerly of Shelby, died Aug. 11, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Clover, SC on Oct.11, 1947. She was the daughter of the late James Edward and Frances Dover Wray. She was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church, Shelby. Mrs. Blanton liked to talk, eat chocolates, and watch soap operas. She adored all her babies.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothy McQueen, Mary Bratton,Frances Dyer, and Ronald Wray.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, David Carroll Blanton; son, Richard Walker and wife, Denise of Mooresville; step daughters, Wendy Dendy and husband, Phil of Lawndale and Sherri Lowery and husband, Shawn of Blacksburg, SC; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and siblings, Perry Wray of Texas, Lou Ferguson and Catherine Wray Willis both of Cherryville.

Services will be held Tuesday at Double Springs Baptist Church at 11 AM with Rev. Bill Fryer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday at Carpenter-Porter Funeral and Cremation Services from 6-8 PM.

Memorials may be made Hospice of Cleveland Co, 951 Wendover Heights Dr., Shelby, NC 28150.
