Joe Gray

Joe Cleveland "J.C." Gray age 88 of Hephzibah Church Road passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Brian Center of Lincolnton. He was born March 18, 1929 in Gaston County to the late William Preston and Maggie Bookout Gray. J.C. graduated from Cherryville High School and Howard's Business College. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired after 36 years from Carolina Freight. J.C. was a member of Anthony Grove Baptist Church. He loved fishing, spending time with his family, and going out to eat with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Mae Anthony Gray; great grandson John Thomas Shull; and sisters, Beulah Dellinger and Dorothy Neill.

Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Shull and husband, Bill of Crouse; grandchildren, Chris Shull. Eric Shull and wife, Lisa, Amanda Harris and husband, Jonathan, and Amy Priebe and husband, Steve; seven great grandchildren; and seven step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Tim Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #100 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
