Lavonda Mcswain

Lavonda Upton McSwain, 68, of Ridge Ave., died October 5, 2016 in Cleveland Co. She was born in Lincoln Co. on October 30, 1947 a daughter of the late Joe Junior and Mazelle Hevner Upton. Mrs. McSwain was employed by Cherryville Walmart customer service. She enjoyed the Panthers, country music, the outdoors, crafting, and found great pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all and especially her dog Tinkerbell.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Thomas Eugene McSwain; a brother, David Upton and a brother-in-law, John Lewis McSwain.

Survivor include her children, Sharon Renee McSwain of Cherryville, Wesley McSwain (Kristina) of Charlotte, and Michael McSwain (Kelly Scronce), of Cherryville; seven grandchildren, Colby, Gavin, Gabriel, Garrett, Ty, and Alexis McSwain and Zoey Ellis, brothers Eddie Upton (Ellen) of Kansas City, MO, Dean Upton (Marion) Plantation, FL.; Sister-in-law, Kaye Upton, of Hickory, Mary Helen Hinson (Tom), Macon GA, Gail Ford (Rick) of Lincolnton, and Wanda Hester (Luther) of Cherryville; a friend, James Webber and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel with Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 9:30AM to 10:45 AM and at other times at the home.
