Leah Johnson

June 3, 1928 — July 8, 2017

Early Saturday morning, July 8, 2017, Leah Johnson, 89 years of age born on June 3, 1928, the Matriarch of eleven natural birth children, went to be in the presence of our heavenly Father to rest and to receive all her rewards. She fell asleep peacefully and pain free in her bed at her residence in Kings Mountain, NC where she lived for over 30 plus years. She was raised in the Tryon School district by her awesome father and mother, Cap Johnson and Paulina Hallman. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Hazel Lee Johnson; son, Gary Fain Johnson; daughter, Rhonda Johnson Goodwin; and sister, Faye Hallman.

Yet she was survived by nine other children, six daughters and three sons. Children include, Paulette Charles (JC), Pastryl Robbs (Kenneth), Malva Johnson, Meah Bell (Sammy), Chiquita Womic (Michael), Tonjua Williams (Ronald), Kerry Johnson (Barbara), Berwyn Johnson (Sharon), and Byron Johnson. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Kathy Johnson; son-in-law, Alvin Goodwin; adopted sons, Letcher Brown and Phillip Morehead; thirty-two grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Alice Johnson; and beloved doctor, Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Okafor, "With God, all things are possible."

She will be missed but never forgotten from the hearts, memories, and prayers of hundreds of her close relatives and friends. She was a member of King of Kings Community Church in Shelby. Mrs. Johnson found great pleasure in her family and grandbabies. She was a retired beautician and enjoyed floral arranging, fishing, and traveling. Leah was a talented artist who excelled in drawing and painting.

A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Wesley Chapel Cemetery., Carson Hunter Rd., Bessemer City, NC
