Margie Dellinger

Margie Bookout Dellinger, 92, of J. C. Dellinger Road, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 at Peak Resource of Cherryville. She was born June 5, 1929 in Gaston County to the late Lee Alexander and Vergie Jane Wallace Bookout.

Mrs. Dellinger was a graduate of Cherryville High School and Southern Business College. She worked for thirty years with Carolina Freight Carriers. Mrs. Dellinger was a member of First Baptist Church – Cherryville where she served in the nursery for over 30 years. She taught early education at both First United Methodist Church, and First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, J. C. Dellinger; brother, Gene Bookout; brother-in-law, Bill Price.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen D. West and husband, Retired Lt. Col. Andy; son, Barry Dellinger and wife, Wanda; grandchildren, Summer Dellinger, Vanessa Hilburn (James), Christopher Dellinger (Jenny) and Jonathan West (Amanda); great-grandchildren, Kayley and Holden Sparrow, Logan Dellinger, Graham and Jamison Hilburn, Emerson West, and one on the way; sisters, Betty Roberts (Joe) and Nancy Price; nephews and nieces, David Roberts (Melody), Melba Lawrence (Don), Lavonne Robinson (Brian), Michael Bookout (Ronnie), Doug Bookout (Toni), Laura Roberts, Kelly Wilson, and Sharon Robinson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff of Peak Resources in Cherryville for their love and care shown to Mrs. Dellinger.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Carpenter-Porter Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner officiating.

Burial will follow at  St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Saturday, following the service and her home, 600 J.C. Dellinger Road.
