Michael Alan Avery, age 71, of Crouse, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Robin Johnson Hospice House. Mike was born August 31, 1952, in Gaston County, to the late Carl Lendel Avery and Laura Lee Willis Avery. He worked at the Lincoln County Landfill for many years. Mike was a member of First United Methodist in Cherryville. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed attending car shows. Mike loved camping and fishing, in his younger days. He could often be found watching Westerns.

 

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his loving wife, Judy Bridges Avery; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donna Avery Neill and Don Neill; and niece, Donna Simmons.

 

Left to cherish his memory are his niece, Andrea Neill; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Dot Bridges; nephew and wife, Terry and Crystal Bridges; great nephew, Tristan; nephew, Wade Peace; numerous other great nieces and nephews; many great friends; and his church family.

 

A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, July 13, 2024, at First United Methodist, with Pastor Zack Christy officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be private.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist – 601 N Pink St, Cherryville, NC 28021 or Robin Johnson Hospice House – 5005 Shepards Way Dr, Dallas, NC 28034.
