Mose Kalin

Mitchell “Mose” Kalin, Jr., age 77 passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Atrium Health in Lincolnton, North Carolina.   He was born April 21, 1944 in Harrisonburg, Virginia, to the late Mitchell Mose Kalin, Sr. and Rita Maxine Litten.  Mose was a member of Victory Grove Baptist Church in Lincolnton and retired from Mohican Mills.  He loved to be outdoors and go hunting and fishing.  He was a gun enthusiast and a talented gunsmith.  Mose loved cookouts and spending time with his neighbors, friends, and family.  He also enjoyed the fleamarkets and traveling.

Mose was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Holloway Kalin; and his grandparents who raised him, Grandma Florence and Pop John Litten.

Survivors include his daughter, Mona Marie McCurry of Gulf Breeze, FL; grandchildren, Kalin Marie Wellman and husband, Brian, Heather Renee McCurry, Autumn Nicole McCurry; great grandchildren, Hannah Wellman, Madison Wellman, Isabelle Wellman, Kenzi Wellman, Jaiden Wellman, and Emily Bright; and numerous cousins and friends.

A time of remembrance will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services in Cherryville, NC.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Mt. Jackson, Virginia with Rev. Clay Ledford officiating.
