Patricia Oates

Patricia Ann Brock Oates, age 75, of Cherryville, passed away May 27, 2024, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. Pat was born December 17, 1948, in York County, South Carolina, to the late Gilbert and Nettie Virginia Wright Norton. Pat was a member of Cherryville Church of God.  She retired from the healthcare industry where she was a former certified nursing assistant. She loved going to church, singing in the choir, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. Patricia adored her daily crossword and getting peppermint milkshakes from Chick-Fil-A. She loved bowling in her younger years and attended every event of her grandchildren, from baseball games to cheer competitions. 

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her siblings, Naomi Norton, Pearl Eva Norton, Elmore Norton, James Norton, Melvin Norton, and Bobby Norton.

Survivors include her children, Kevin Brock (Heather), of Melissa, TX, Lisa Hester Eaker (Allen), of Cherryville, Ray Hester, of Waco, and Jeff Oates, of Waco; grandchildren, Noah Eaker, Katie Eaker, Sarah Eaker, Gavin Brock, and Katie Shook; granddog, Fripp, whom she adored; sisters, Patsy Blackwell, of Fort Mill, and Carolyn Casey, of Rock Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, June 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Cherryville Church of God with Bishop Edward Mullaly, Jr. and Rev. Ronald Lackey officiating.  Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery.
