Harold Perry Jones, age 66 of Shelby, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Atrium Health Cleveland. He was born December 3, 1954 in Cleveland County to the late Howard Dean and Vera Lee Laws Jones. Perry was a 1973 graduate of Cherryville High School where he was an exceptional football player. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from truck driving where he worked for 28 years with his brother, Mike, as a FedEx contractor. Perry loved Classic Rock and Oldies music and watching movies. He enjoyed going to Gatlinburg and spending time with his family. He was a people person and cherished time spent with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Josh Jones.
Survivors include his son, Austin Brent Jones of Shelby; daughter, Amber (Jones) Rauch and husband, Dale of Gastonia; brothers, Don Jones and wife, Markie, Dee Jones and wife, Susan, and Mike Jones and wife, Barbara; and nephews and nieces, Scott, Jeff, David, Angie, Mark, Deana, Steve, and Shane.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Mike Ivey of West Cramerton Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
