Reverend Howard Stephen “Steve” Kiser, age 71, of Barley Street, passed away Friday, March 6, 2020 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. He was born March 17, 1948 in Lincoln County to the late Howard Marshall and Rachel Kiser Kiser.
Rev. Kiser was an ordained minister with the United Methodist Church, and was a graduate of Duke University with a Master of Divinity. Over the years, he served various churches including Bond’s Grove United Methodist Church, New Hope Charge, Landis United Methodist Church, Littlejohn – Gamewell, Fairview United Methodist, Bellwood Charge, Centennial, Mt. Hebron, Pisgah, Caroleen United Methodist Church, and Rhyne Heights United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed studying the Civil War and was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. Steve loved crappy fishing, and squirrel hunting. He also loved his family dearly.
He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Quinter Kiser.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 41 years, Elizabeth Quinter Kiser, daughter, Laura Kiser and fiancé, Aaron Barringer, son, David Marshall Kiser; sister, Jean Boone; grandchildren, Kinley Kiser, Bailey Mode, Emma Mode, Aiden Barringer, and Aniken Barringer; nieces and nephew, Larry Boone, Teresa Holland, and Lynn Blake; numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm Tuesday March 10, 2020 at Laboratory United Methodist Church, Lincolnton with Rev. Meg Gaston officiating.
His family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:45 pm prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be private.
