Rev. William Greene

Rev. William Seamore “Bill” Greene, age 86 of Lincolnton, NC entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 4, 2022.  Bill was born October 18th, 1935, to the late Rev. Alvin and Ida Mae Green. After having served honorably in the United States Air Force, he returned home to follow his life's calling to serve as a minister of the gospel for his Lord Jesus Christ. He pastored Fairview Baptist Church in Lincolnton NC for over 30 years. After his retirement, Fairview bestowed to him the honor of Pastor Emeritus recognizing his pastoral leadership.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Armstrong Greene; two sisters Violet Green Davis and Jeanett Green Swan.

Left to cherish his life is his wife of 34 years, Joanne Gentry Greene; daughters, Midige Martin (Rev. Donald), Monica Ankney (Bill) and son, Rev. William Vincent Greene (Kimberly); grandchildren, Steve Martin (Dorothy), Samuel Ankney, Meredith Greene, Will Greene, Adam Greene, Bethany Greene and Ryan Greene; great-grandchildren, Samantha Martin, Jack Martin, Benjamin Martin and Abigail Martin.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 7, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services in Cherryville.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton with Rev. Chad Butler officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 5051 Fairview Church Rd. Lincolnton NC 28092.
