Spencer Ray

Spencer Jerome Ray, age 46 of Roy Eaker Rd. passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Carolinas Healthcare System Lincoln. He was born May 13, 1970 in Cleveland County to Deborah Ray Costner of Cherryville. He was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church. Spencer graduated from Haywood Tech as a Lumber Specialist. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He was an avid sports fan. Spencer loved NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon, the Dallas Cowboys, and Duke. He was a wonderful father and loving son.

In addition to his mother and step-father, Deborah Ray and Larry Dean Costner, he is survived by his daughter, Zali Grace Ray; aunts, Jill Patterson (Gary) of Rock Hill, SC, and Mickey Wilson (Bob) of Manakin Sabot, VA; cousins, Josh Wilkinson and children, Anna, Jacob, and Riley of Rock Hill, SC, Heather Abrams and children, Zack and Chloe of Rock Hill, SC, Katie Bosch (Tom) of San Diego, CA and Laura Berkey (Brian) and children, McKenzie and Emma of Glen Allen, VA.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Sidney Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
