Steve Hale

Steve Lynn Hale, age 68 of Cherryville, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Atrium Health Cleveland.  He was born July 28, 1955, in Gaston County to the late Richard Blair and Virginia Dare Gordon Hale.  Steve was a retired truck driver and enjoyed playing cards.  He loved trips to the beach and going fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tim, Rick, and Bill Hale; and sister, Diane Cook.

Survivors include his significant other of 32 years, Gertrude Jeanette Canipe and her family: son, Charles Canipe (Lisa), grandchildren, Matt Canipe (Mary) and Tracy Canipe, and great grandchildren, Zachary, Hailey, Makayla, and Cory; his best friends, Red and Don Blanton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 26, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Brian Spargo officiating.  Burial will follow at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 12:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
