Vickie Elaine Porter

Vickie Elaine Clawson Porter, age 68, of Cherryville, passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Atrium Health Main in Charlotte. Vickie was born June 29, 1955, in Gaston County, to the late Joe Bill Clawson and Dorothy Sue Jarrell Clawson. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cherryville. Vickie enjoyed taking care of the house, including doing laundry and cleaning. She could often be found shopping. Vickie loved trips to the beach and listening to beach music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Michael Clawson; and former husband, Larry James Leonhardt.

Vickie is survived by her husband, Tommy Porter; son, Tyler Leonhardt (Cortney Bowker); brothers, Rick Clawson (Lynne) and Scott Carpenter (Lisa); stepchildren, Jennifer Porter Snipes (Josh) and Amanda Porter Aldridge (Chris); grandchildren, Emma Snipes and Porter Aldridge; cousins, Darlene Clawson Greene and Debbie Canipe; lifelong friend, Kathy Pigg; and beloved yorkie-poo, Brodie.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 13 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cherryville with Rev. Michael Collins and Rev. G. Scott Homesley officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM, prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at the City Memorial Cemetery.
