Walter Halupke

August 18, 1936 — February 12, 2017

Walter Halupke passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Marietta, GA. He was born August 18, 1936 to John and Catherine Urda Halupke in Clifford, Pennsylvania. Walter served in the United States Navy. He attended the University of Miami where he played college baseball. He then went on to play for the Minor Leagues and also enjoyed coaching. Walter married his wife of 53 years, Carole Hemric on June 27th, 1959. He was an account executive for 35 years with Eco Lab, Inc. and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Walter was a strong family man who adored his wife, children, and grandchildren, as well as many extended family members. He took care of them and taught them to be self-sufficient. He is survived by his son, Scott Halupke and wife, Cindi of Pleasant Valley, NY; daughter, Cheri Lynn Baker and husband, Christopher of Clovis, CA; grandchildren, Charles Halupke, Mitchell Halupke, Caroline Halupke, Natasha Baker, Nathan Baker, and Madeline Baker; brother, Gene Halupke of Marietta, GA; and sister, Joyce Halupke of Daly City, CA. In addition to his parents and wife, Carole Halupke, Walter was preceded in death by his beloved sons, Richard Allen and Douglas Todd; and a sister, Dolores Halupke.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Jonathan Gantt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral & Cremation Services.
